3D Models
Here are my 3D models, they will be in chronological order of the first one I made to my most recent- I hope you like them!
When I first started 3D modelling, I was, admittedly, terrible. I didn't know what I was doing, or how the program I was using worked, so all I did was press buttons and hope for the best, which landed in some horrendously bad results. However, it was probably the best thing I could have done, it helped me adjust with the different modifiers and controls. Not only that, but it also taught me which modelling program was best for me.
I started with Maya, with my student ID I was able to use it without paying as I had a student account, however, even though Maya may be expensive, personally it doesn't beat the free program, Blender. In Blender I was able to pick up on the controls much quicker, and it has a lot more versatility in terms of character design and animation.
Using Blender for the first time was during the first game I was making in college. Unfortunately though, it was completely unusable, even though it worked perfectly fine in Blender, in unity it was lagged and would half the framerate. What I didn't know was that there was a limit to how many triangles can be in a model. Normal character models can have around 20,000 tri, however my model had.....
2.137 million.
I then had to lower the poly count, to do this all I did was un-subdivide the majority of the model. This model was used in the game- it was rigged and animated and used as the enemy in the game me and my teammate made.
For my next project, all we had to do was design a weapon, so I designed an axe with a dragon skull on the top of it, I thought maybe the axe had been used by a warrior to defeat the dragon and was using the skull as a trophy.
I've always loved 2.5D games, like Hades, so I made a small unity project, and although I never finished it, I still made a few cool models.
Here is a model of Sly Cooper from the 'Sly' games. I wanted to make something that was fun and I could learn from, with this I learnt how to render my models properly and add good lighting, which has helped me a lot.
